C.H.I.E.F.S.™ UPDATE

C.H.I.E.F.S.™ is the culmination of over four decades of experience leading and working with early-stage ventures. Originally defined as “Canadian Health Innovation Evaluation For Success, C.H.I.E.F.S. is now focused on the six strategic Pillars necessary for effective commercialization:

  • Customer,
  • Health-Economics,
  • Impact,
  • Execution,
  • Financials,
  • Scalability

The C.H.I.E.F.S. Findings report is an inexpensive validation tool[i] based on fifty (50) proprietary criteria that are distilled down to ten (10) critical functions (see Exhibit 1).

For innovators, this immediately identifies, by Factor, the level of any necessary remediation.

The Factors are then further aggregated into the Pillars Profile (see Exhibit 2):

C = Customer: Positioning (TAM/SAM/SOM), Type of Innovation, Corp Dev

H = Health-Economics: Early Funding, Currently Seeking Corp Dev, Exit

I = Impact: Type of Innovation, IP, Years in Development, Principals

E = Execution: Principals, Team, Years in Business, Corp Dev

F = Financials: Early Funding, Currently Seeking, Positioning (TAM/SAM/SOM)

S = Scalability: IP, Corp Dev, Exit

These six pillars provide a structured lens through which investors, and ecosystem partners can evaluate not only the scientific merit of a technology, but its likelihood of achieving real-world commercial success.

Many innovative companies fail, not because of poor professional advice, but because commercialization risk was never objectively assessed.

C.H.I.E.F.S.™ complements professional services by evaluating whether an innovation is commercially prepared to succeed.
